Elsa
graduated with a B.A. in art and an M.A. in Art Education from Florida
State University. She taught art for 3 years at North Florida Community
College and then taught art at the University of Texas at Austin
for 9 years. She earned an M.A. in Creative Arts Therapy from the
University of San Francisco and a Ph.D. in Transpersonal Psychology
from International College. She has licensure in New Mexico as a
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and holds an Art
Therapy Registration (ATR.) Elsa also has advanced training in Jungian
Sandplay, Critical Incident intervention, and Life Coaching.
Some of Elsa’s methods
are fairly common to all therapists, such as cognitive-behavioral
and solution focused strategies, as well as cognitive skill based
education. What makes her work different is that she is skilled in
the language of the right hemisphere of the brain, where so much
of the negative programming is stored. To access the feelings and
change behavior Elsa employs methods such as Gestalt, visualization,
art, Jungian dreamwork, Sandplay and journaling. Her work with children
includes play therapy.
